☼ Moonfire ☾

So much of my inspiration comes from the sky; the glittering stars that light up the night like fireflies, the moon in all its luminous phases, and the sun that shines down upon my garden and studio each day. Gem & Tonik, in many ways, has become a love letter to the celestial. My offering to the gods, as forging jewels has become my life’s currency.

Five years ago, I worked on a collection that was particularly magical and transformative for me. Five years later, I’m returning.

Moonfire celebrates the beauty, magic and power of the sun, the moon and the stars. The collection features only two gemstones: shimmering Moonstone from Madagascar, Sri Lanka and India, and sparkling Sunstone from Sweden and Norway. I spent a great deal of time hunting for the right stones for this collection, searching for gems with glowing rainbow flashes and glittering confetti sparkles that felt worthy of the celestial magic they celebrate.

Stories of the sun and moon appear in cultures all over the world. In ancient Egypt the sun god Ra sailed across the sky each day before travelling through the underworld at night, while the moon god Khonsu watched over the dark hours. In Greek mythology the sun was driven across the heavens by Helios while the moon goddess Selene followed in silver light. Norse legend tells of the sun goddess Sól and the moon god Máni racing across the sky as wolves chase them through the heavens. High in the Andes, the Inca people honoured the sun god Inti as the giver of life while the moon goddess Mama Quilla governed the rhythms of the night sky. Across cultures and centuries, these celestial lights became symbols of balance, mystery, and wonder, their eternal dance inspiring stories that still glow today.

Moonfire includes 25 hand forged pendants, earrings and rings, each a one-of-a-kind design made with ethically sourced stones, hand tools, love and fire. There will be a range of ring sizes available, in both single and multi-stone designs. Each piece will be the only one of its kind in the entire universe, which is something pretty special: a tiny capture of the sky at a given moment, to adorn your fingers, neck or ears.
