This handcrafted statement ring features a beautiful piece of genuine Smithsonite, that measures approximately 20mm x 12mm. It has been made with a solid sterling silver 11 gauge (1.9mm) ring band, a thick sterling silver hand-sawed backing, a fine silver serrated bezel setting, and sterling silver trims and accents. The ring has then been sanded smooth, oxidized and polished to a high shine. Like all my work, it is a completely unique piece made entirely by hand, using recycled silver, cruelty-free materials and environmentally-friendly methods!
I have created this ring in a size 7 1/4 - 7 1/2 (Australian size O - O 1/2), but it can also be taken to any local jeweller to be sized up or down!
Total Ring Face Length: 26mm approx.
Total Ring Face Width: 14mm approx.
Smithsonite is a gorgeous crystal that was discovered in 1832 by Francois Sulpice Beudant. Beaudant named the stone "Smithsonite", in honour of James Smithson, who was a founder and the major donor of the Smithsonian Institution. The lustre of smithsonite sets it apart from other minerals: it has a silky to pearly lustre giving natural specimens a certain play of light across its surface that resembles the fine lustre of melted wax glowing under a candle flame.
Smithsonite is a valuable emotional healer, being soothing for the emotional body and good for relieving stress. It is also considered to be good for easing tension and dispelling debilitating anxiety and loneliness.
As well as having these properties, Smithsonite also carries energies of kindness, beauty, love and charm, allowing whoever wears the stone to also radiate these traits.
